I work for a coffee shop and probably 80% of people who order a cappuccino are mad because they didnt know what they orderd. 1/3 espresso 1/3 steamed milk and 1/3 frothed milk. This is frustrating!!! do I really need to give every one a lesson on what it is. This drink has been around for 100s of years. I also get iced cappuccino…well jeez thats impossible.. Why would you ice froth.. That defeats it purpose. How hard is this concept?
NO THE RECIPE HAS NEVER CHANGED .NEVER EVER. IT HAS BEEN THE SAME FOR 100S OF YEARS.
I would go out of business if I made those people something new everytime they tried something they dont like. In all my years in other businesses it seems that people that go to coffee shops feel you should make them something else if they dont like it. ahahahaha do you do this at McDonalds .. It seems to be hip to have that Starbucks cup or drink cappuccinos/lattes yet no one has any idea what they are drinking.

I live in Davao and I have been to a few coffee shops. I have yet to find a good one. Is it lack of knowledge or lack of good coffee beans? There are no Starbucks in Davao. Just curious. What are your favorite Espresso based coffee drinks? Hot or cold.

Hey, so I know weed is legal to buy from coffee shops in holland but is it legal for a 16 year old boy to buy weed from a coffee shop?

I love white mochas but they’re aren’t any coffee shops near me. I have a coffee maker and espresso machine but can’t find a decent recipe for mochas, lattes, and espressos. Help please!

Can the average person taste the difference of a high end cup of coffee. I am going to rule out McDonald’s and Dunkin’ Donuts and refer to the more exotic blends from your Starbucks and Caribou’s and other Specialty Coffee Shops. Can a person discern between Sumatran and Columbian, Kona and Ethiopian, or is good coffee just that, good coffee? I realize there are "super tasters" and "coffee snobs", but I am refering to the average "Joe" so to speak, can they really tell the difference? Cheers!

I always loved the cappuccino style with teh thick frost /milk on top of it. Now I have a fairly good machine myself, but my milk doesn’t get as thick as the one I get in the coffee shops.

How do I make it like that?

I just did the math…. I’m spending 00/ yr @ Starbucks on lattes. My mom asked me yesterday what I want for Christmas and I decided that I’m going to ask for an espresso machine. I am clueless though. I have one now but it’s not all that great (at all). Can someone help me out???
I agree regarding the independent coffee shops. However, there are none in my town, at least none that are enroute to work.

For anyone who’s been to Amsterdam or known somebody who’s been can you take the weed you buy in coffee shops back to your hotel or out of the coffee shop period? or do you have to stay in the coffee shop you bought it in?

Also, how old do you have to be to buy in coffee shops there?

I am going Amsterdam on a tight budget and am looking for the best coffee shops with the best wares and am also looking for commentary on the best places for cheap eats (as long as the place isn’t super grimy). I will be staying very close to the red light district.

I’ve seen so many answers on YA from people claiming to be SB baristas that seem to know nothing about coffee. I like to go to coffee shops when on trips but avoid SB because of the many bad answers given here.

One memorable answerer said that espresso beans had to be thoroughly cleaned out of the grinder before coffee beans could be ground, otherwise one would ruin the other. The one that triggered this question described a "cappucinno" (misspelled) as half steamed milk and half foam (apparently there’s no espresso in it).

Anyone here have experiences that show this to be fakes or the exception? I don’t want to waste my money somewhere that has no idea about coffee. Do you think SB is as good/better/or worse than small, independent coffee shops?
I know to clean the equipment, especially the grinder. The question with the grinder was about the difference between coffee & espresso & the answerer said there was a huge diff & they had to thoroughly clean out the grinder before doing coffee after accidentally grabbing espresso beans. She made it sound like coffee & espresso were from completely different plants.

I just want to make a latte like I get at coffee shops. I’m assuming just hot milk will do in place of steamed milk? But alot of the machines I see are….confusing. Whats the best machine I can buy while still staying wallet friendly?

all my friends have started going to coffee shops to hang out. weell, i dont liike coffee but i want to look cool like them with a coffee in my hand. is there a way to start liking coffee or to make it better?

I’ve got a budget of 00 total. I’ve been researching on the net for the past few weeks and I know I want a semi-automatic and a burr grinder. I’ve worked at several coffee shops in the past so I’m familiar with the big industrial size machines but I’m not sure how those compare to the consumer machines. Some advise from someone who actually owns one would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
