How many shots can I pull with 1 espresso pod?

I just got a new espresso machine and it only can make espresso from pods. I’m used to grinding, tamping and pulling my own shots. But my question is can I pull more than 1 shot with 1 espresso pod? I usually pull 3 shots of espresso for my drinks (combined with milk). I guess I just want to know if I should pull 3 shots from 3 pods or can I pull multiple shots from 1 pod? Thanks, take care.

Same brand of coffee, I'm not dehydrated-sometimes I get a headache, sometimes not?

At Starbucks I typically, though not always, get a headache with their normal blend of regular coffee. But with the espresso drinks I don’t. Then brewing at home, with some brands I’ll get a headache, others not. Also, a brand that I’ve used for a while sometimes starts to give me headaches. Or if my espresso coffee gets a couple weeks old, it starts giving me headaches when I use my espresso machine.

question about having own expresso machine? & making soy lattes?

i am going to purchase my own mini expresso machine because i am sick of paying 4$ for a soy-latte. my first question is, if i purchase it, do i have to get a milk frother as well?

http://www.target.com/Mr-Coffee-Steam-Espresso-Machine/dp/B000U6BSI2

^ that is the one i am buying.. i am just hoping i put the milk and it froths it and adds expresso so that its easy. do you know if that’s what it would do??

also – if i use soy-vanilla do you think that i’d still have to add a vanilla syrup or is the vanilla in the milk enough

sorry if these are awful questions :)

I am somewhat addicted to coffee and was researching on all the different methods, but when i got to the mokka pots i was surprised to se that it said it made espresso! What makes a good cup of coffee?

Now I enjoy a cup or two here and there. After receiving an espresso machine and a deluxe coffee maker as wedding gifts, I find myself wondering if I’ve been drinking so-so coffee for a long time.

In your opinion, what makes a great cup of coffee great?
Do you get special beans?
Do you grind them yourself?
Do you insist on a certain method of preparation?

I’m interested in everyone’s views on this topic, because I’d like to learn more about how to make an even better cup-o-java.

Thanks!

ESE pods for Espresso capable of only making short shots?

I have a Breville 800 Espresso machine, and when I use ground beans the water will flow out at a steady stream and I can make a short or long shot easily. However I just started using some ESE pods with the machine, and instead of a steady stream the water drips out and will only make a small shot. No matter how long I leave the maching running, no more espresso will come out of the filter holder. Is this normal?

Also yes I made sure I was using the correct filter labeled "pod". Thanks for any help.
Not that I want a longer shot, it just sounds like the machine is really stressing to make the shot and I want to make sure im not doing any damage and that what im experiencing is normal operation with ESE pods.

Espresso: Steaming vs Frothing milk on Hamilton Beach 40729?

I bought a cheap espresso machine:

http://www.amazon.com/Hamilton-Beach-40729-Espresso-Cappuccino/dp/B0006FU8AG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1208398730&sr=1-1

It has a frothing nozzle for steaming/frothing milk, but I don’t know the exact difference between the two. I meant I know how to froth the milk, but not how to steam it.

Anyone familiar with this machine?
to below: thanks for your answer. So to steam milk, I turn the dial all the way and give it a full blast, and to froth, I just turn it a little bit?
Don’t I make more bubble if I give it more steam?

Stovetop Espresso Maker?

I have a Taylor & Ng Bellman CX-25 Stovetop Espresso Maker and have no idea how to use it. I’ve been looking for instructions for this type of espresso machine but have yet to find anything. If you’d look up this machine to see if you know how to use it and could find any instructions it would mean the world to me. Thank you.

A good Dual Coffee/Espresso Maker?

I own a Krups machine that is both a coffee maker and an espresso machine. It is finally starting to ‘kick the bucket’ and I was wondering if anyone had any good ideas on a replacement model. While I was OK with the Krups one, the espresso side of it wasn’t all that hot, literally. I’m not looking to spend more than 0 on both things. Do you know of a good coffee/espresso machine, or should I get seperate ones? If so, are there any brands or types recommended within that price range? Thank you!

Is it ok for espresso to have a bit of fine grinds in the crema? (DeLonghi EC155)?

I just purchased a Delonghi EC155 and most of the reviews say it is a great entry level espresso machine. I just started playing around with it and experimenting to pull a good shot of espresso. I am no coffee/espresso expert so I don’t know what a perfect espresso should be like. I know that I enjoy them when I get them from a coffee shop but I don’t get it often enough to know what a perfect shot should be like. I am grinding my own beans (fine grind) and tamping with a decent amount of pressure. My crema turns out with a bit of fine ground beans in it. Is this normal or is this considered a bad shot? Perhaps my grind is a bit too fine? My shots are coming out a bit light so I am tamping harder and trying to keep the grind fine to increase the brew time.

Anyone have specific tips on using this particular machine as well?
